Grenades, both commercially made and improvised can supplement a survival arsenal. Not all of these are intended to cause harm. In fact the majority of grenades in use today are of non-lethal varieties. From distraction devices to stun ball grenades, non lethal (or less lethal) grenades and bombs are at the forefront of police weapons development.
Military grenade developers have also been in on the act. One new development out of Russia has been a grenade that throws little deadly shrapnel but emits a powerful electromagnetic pulse that is tuned to disable electronic equipment. Such a grenade can be used to neutralize heavily armored targeting computers, sensory and communications equipment.
