Tac-Force Discreet Weapons Case
![]()
For those of
us who like the coolness of black bag gun cases that give a hint of battle ready
hardware underneath, the idea of a discreet weapons case smells of giving in to
public pressures to take the gun hobby into the closet. Not to
mention, I had already made a considerable investment in buying conventional
assault rifle case for all of my semi-auto rifles.
Conventional gun cases are usually not an option either way, since assault
rifles and their semi-auto counterparts simply don't fit the profile of a
conventional hunting gun. Thus conventional cases tend to be too
long and narrow, or you end up having to use cases which are simply too large
and end up with a lot of empty space in the conventional gun case.
Hence, there is usually a need for more specialized gun cases for these
weapons. Probably the first, and best of these commercial types were
the Assault systems cases like the one in the top of this picture.
Well made for their day, they have been copied and adapted over the years and
the design remains popular.
In all likelihood,
though, the discreet cases are probably a better choice for those who want to
keep a low profile. A bonus is that they are becoming quite fashionable
among the tactical training crowd. Along with that is of course, the
fact that such cases have been pretty costly as they are usually proprietary to
the more high end gear manufacturers.
Enter Tac-Force, an upstart company out of Hong Kong with a growing line of crossover products from law enforcement, airsoft sports, and now, real world tactical gear. The Tac-Force gear is not quite "knockoff" equipment, but it does follow the general flow of existing designs. Fortunately not satisfied with simple duplication, the folks at Tac-Force are adding their own thoughtful innovations to the gear.
Case in point, the discreet
tactical weapons cases. Available in the sizes to accommodate most
common tactical small arms, the cases feature not just one, but two long
compartments for holding weapons. A well padded main compartment
that runs the full length of the case, and a slightly shorter compartment that
runs along one side of the case. On the other side of the case are
metal D ring attachment points for a padded shoulder strap. Inside
of the main compartment, you get ALICE and MOLLE compatible attachment strips
along with two lash down straps which allow you to hold the weapon in place for
maximum protection. Inside of the secondary compartment is
"fuzzy side" a Velcro-like surface which allows for the attachment of
accessory pouches that have the "hook side" Velcro on the
back. You get one three cell pouch of this type with the case to get
you started. Both compartments have generous amounts of
thick foam padding both on the outside and between the compartment.
One should note that
it is most likely your gun case will often be separate from your other gear, so
it is a smart play to keep a minimum of support items and accessories with the
gun. This should include a basic cleaning kit, some magazines and
maybe some ammunition. This is a maybe, since safety and security
circumstances may dictate that it is not prudent to keep the ammunition in the
same case as the weapon. Also
note that a soft case is not always considered a "lockable case" in
some jurisdictions and in airports. You can, however, put a small
luggage lock on the zippers to keep out marginally honest folks. In California for example, it is
illegal to have ammunition for an assault weapon stored in the same case while
being transported in a motor vehicle. In other states, it may be
necessary to partially disassemble a rifle or shotgun for legally transporting
it from one place to another. These cases are great for rifles like
the AR15, and AR10 which can be broken down into two component halves, placed in
the separate protected compartments, and be in a case with an overall length
much shorter than what would otherwise be needed, and even better, a case
that is not so large that you have a lot of unused dead space in it.
The 36" case will hold even the larger AR10 rifles when they are broken
down.

Normal fit is that
the 33" case will hold most assault rifles with a folding stock, including
the HK93, M4 carbine FN FAL PARA, and HK91A3. Watch out though with
some of the stretched out CAR-15s, especially older models with extended
buttpads and 16" barrels with long flash hiders added. They can
fit, but you might be better off going with the 36" case if you have any
doubts. The secondary compartment is usually around 4" smaller,
so on the 33" case, you are getting pretty close to the wire with some guns
even if they have folding stocks. I found that a Mossberg 500 with
20" barrel will fit in the secondary pocket of the 36" case, but not
the secondary pocket of the 33' case. It does appear that an
18" barreled Mossberg Cruiser would fit that compartment, but it would be
close. When you get into the larger cases, that ceases to be much of
an issue, but remember that the secondary pocket will always be a little
shorter.
Available colors on these cases right now are OD green (shown here because the black gear photographs badly) and of course Black. Black is most commonly recommended when you want to keep a low profile, but green has better color blending characteristics in the outdoors. The choice is yours.
We now carry this line of cases at
savvysurvivor.com. Contact alexo53@hotmail.com
for availability and to arrange payment if you do not use paypal. Shipping can vary due to the size and weight of the cases. It is usually possible
to ship additional smaller items in the same box for little or no additional
shipping charges.
I am managing to usually keep at least one of every color and size on hand for immediate shipment, with more cases coming in every week or two. If you want to work a deal on three or more cases in a single order, I am willing to consider discounts. This is not "dealer pricing" based on possession of an FFL, but strictly related to volume orders. The price and availability on orders of three or more cases will vary, but it usually works out to around a 15% total discount. Contact alexo53@hotmail.com if you are interested in a volume order discount. I am also, as always, open to trades and barter for other stuff.
Free shipping applies to orders sent by priority mail and UPS. International orders go at my option of surface post or airmail unless you want to kick in extra money for shipping.
