I have looked over four different designs on buttpacks and settled on this one as the best. It is a good balance of size and functionality that I don't see in other buttpacks. I went on a quest for a better buttpack after bad experiences with the issue gear. First, my canvas pack just gave up the ghost and tore open when I loaded it with ammo (OK, maybe my fault a little bit since it is a Vietnam vintage item). Then my newfangled "recon camo" pack from supply unloaded all over the ground at a bad time when I was in a winter training exercise. It seems that the fastex buckles unbuckled when I was doing combat rolls to avoid enemy fire (OK, it was just MILES) in an ambush leaving a trail of my stuff spread along the trail to the point where I took cover. I figured out real quick that heavy duty zippers would be a better thing than slow buckle straps. The Spec-Ops buttpack is by far the most durable unit I have used and will probably outlast most of your other gear. Then came the SOB. I got a few samples from Spec-Ops and took one to the field for a couple weeks of very harsh use. I kept a spare buttpack on hand for when I expected to destroy the SOB. After the first week of tossing, kicking, sitting on and snagging my gear in every imaginable rough use scenario, the pack was fully functional. No tears, no punctures (mainly due to the heavy internal reinforcement. The zippers work like when they were new. The stiffness of the SOB is very good for protecting the stuff you put in it. As the first few troops managed to damage components of their PVS-14 systems, I carried mine in the pack most of the time I was not using it and suffered no damage at all to any components. The other big contenders in the high end gear buttpack market are too large to be practical. Nearly the size of a small Alice Pack, the larger buttpacks defeat the purpose of carrying a light load that can go under your ruck and stay with you when you dump the larger pack. The ahem, bottom line, of this pack is that you get into it through zippers that can be reached while you are wearing the pack. This is much faster and more convenient than conventional GI buttpacks. It is larger than a conventional buttpack and is compatible with all load bearing systems in US service. The seperate zippered compartments make organizing your gear easy and the package ends up being lighter and less complicated than using the ALiCE clips to attach stuff to a GI buttpack. |

This multipurpose bag is designed for organizing smaller items that you would carry in an assault pack, or your larger ruck. You know, the small stuff that you hate to lose, but is not the kinds of things you want to have to carry in your pockets. Hence, the answer is here. Put those items in the Pack Rat and don't lose them. This versatile organizer can hold a surprising amount of stuff, but most importantly, it keeps the stuff organized. The Pack Rat is sized to fit in the back pockets of the THE pack listed above. An excellent way to organize small items in a pack. Get them in different colors to color code your backpack contents. |

This is a holder for your hydration system like the Camelback or one of the civilian equivalents which you would normally wear backpack style with another set of straps tangling you up when you put your gear on. This pouch holds your hydration system and directly connects to your existing load bearing vest or tactical vest with a six point attachment system which will keep it secure without you needing to wear another item with irritating backpack straps. I found that this system is fairly easily adapted to the replacement water reservoirs and drinking tubes sold by a number of vendors, or you can even use this with the el cheapo Waterduck systems from Wally World and it will perform well in the field. You can also adapt the HUMP to a number of packs or even attach it to the interior of an armored vehicle. This can work well for APC and tank crew members who should not wear extra gear that can snag their movement around in the vehicle, but want to keep a hydration system handy. The HUMP will attach directly to Interceptor OTV body armor with no additional straps or modification needed. This does a lot to reduce the number of shoulder straps a person would be wearing while fully "geared up". This, in turn, reduces fatigue and enhances mobility. |

The Superstraps are the same excellent design used on the Recon Ruck Ultra and the THE pack, but made to be retrofitted onto other packs, especially the USGI ALICE packs. Provides excellent padding for heavy loads, sternum strap, quick release buckles. Mest of all, they are made from nylon that has a breathable weave. This helps reduce sweat moisture buildup under the straps on those long hikes. The wicking action of the material helps reduce heat rash, |

This range bag has several zippered and padded compartments for pistols and other items. The overall construction of the bag is strong enough for carrying heavy items like ammo boxes. These bags also make excellent gear bags and carry bags for sensitive and delicate equipment like computer components, cameras, commo gear, optics and electronics. Just remember to take your weapons and ammo out of it before taking it on a commercial flight... These mags also can also do well to supplement a bugout bag when you want to keep your essential gear nearby but in a low profile package. |
